Description
On Display at the Fitchburg art museum
This painting was created with layers of mixed media, it took me 6 months from start to finish.
Mixed media is all about blending different materials together. The addition of multiple layers is the key to making this artwork dynamic by creating depth and dimension.
Medium Used: Acrylic on canvas, Real Maasai beads, cut canvas layers, fabric paints,
I created this masterpiece through my imagination, It is my version of African Monalisa.
Her name is Namunyak (Namu,) a Maasai name. The meaning of name Namunyak represents innovation, independence, determination, courage, sincerity, and activity. People with this name are blessed with many leadership abilities, a desire to explore new horizons, and have the freedom to make their own decisions. If they have a true passion for something they are driven to achieve it.http://www.meaningslike.com/lastnames/name-stands-for/namunyak
Inspired by the Maasai beads worn by the Maasai people.
“There are a number of different colors used in Maasai beadwork, and each one holds a special meaning: red signifies blood, bravery, and unity. White represents health, peace, and purity. Blue is the color of the sky and represents energy, and green is the color of grass, which signifies land and production.” https://thomsonsafaris.com/blog/5-things-didnt-know-maasai-beadwork/
